South Carolina State Fair Awards Largest Scholarship Fund In Its History To 53 Students

The South Carolina State Fair announced the 2024 recipients of its annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship program. This year, 53 high school seniors across the state have been chosen to receive these prestigious $10,000 scholarships. It was also announced that three additional scholarships were made possible due to a generous $34,000 donation from Circle K and EMC Tickets, increasing the total from 50 to 53.

Chemung County Fair (NY) Organizers Talk New Ride Vendor

After facing some uncertainty, the Chemung County Fair has announced they found a new midway vendor for rides. The fair said in a FaceBook post on May 15th, the contract they signed with Syracuse based “Wheelock Rides” was null and void because the company went out of business. This left the board in a pinch to find a new vendor, and they announced Saturday night they found a new company for rides.

‘Fight The Hunger, Stock The Trailer’ Food Drive Challenge Returns To Indiana’s County Fairs

$5,000 is a significant amount of money – which is how much the top 4-H club in the state will win this county fair season with the “Fight the Hunger, Stock the Trailer” food drive challenge – supported by Farm Credit Mid-America and Rural 1st. The food drive challenge will pit the county fairs against each other to see which county’s 4-H youth and Junior Leaders organization can collect the most pounds in food donations for their trailer.

Mercer County Fairgrounds (OH) Receives $30k Donation To Complete Project

The Mercer County Fairgrounds received a $30,000 donation from Cargill to help complete the Grand Event Center project, according to a spokesperson from the fairgrounds. The center is designed to host year-round large-scale indoor activities.

Compeer Financial’s Fund for Rural America, the Farm Credit cooperative’s giving program, is supporting county fairs with grants to improve facilities and experiences offered to rural communities across the Upper Midwest. Sixty-one fairs received County Fair Facility Upgrade Grants this year, totaling $241,850.
