Toolkits and Reports

Toolkits and Reports

The IAFE has developed numerous toolkits to assist our members. Additional information and helpful documents can be found in the IAFE Resource Library

The IAFE toolkits are available to IAFE members only. For IAFE members: Login to access the Toolkits.

Activist Response Kit (ARK)

The Activist Response Kit (ARK) helps members prepare for activists, especially animal rights activists. The ARK will help fair leaders navigate the troubling waters of dealing with activists during the fair or year-round facility rental events. Each of the ten sections of the ARK is designed for quick reading and will provide information valuable to everyone on your fair’s staff, board, or volunteer leadership.

Avian Influenza Toolkit

The Avian Influenza Toolkit will assist our members in preparing for an Avian Influenza outbreak. Some members were here in 2015 when our industry faced an Avian Influenza (H5N1) outbreak and have been updated with new information from the 2021 outbreak. This toolkit provides fairs with resources to develop a plan and includes photos from fairs and their actions during previous outbreaks, USDA links, and other resources.

Consumer Protection Program and E. coli Toolkit

While not a formal training, this basic CPP/E. coli Toolkit will provide fairs with a start to their CPP Plan.

Crisis Communication Toolkit

Crises are unpredictable, making managing your organization’s reputation with stakeholders difficult. However, a proactive crisis communication plan can help you prepare for unexpected events and respond quickly and effectively. The IAFE’s Crisis Communication Toolkit provides resources to help fairs and expositions prepare, respond to, and recover from crisis events.

Critical Conversations Toolkit

Critical Conversations Toolkit was started in 2022 when the IAFE and the OABA once again appointed a task force consisting of members from both organizations to come together
and create a reference tool to supplement the Best Practices document. The goal was to design a document that fosters better, forward-thinking communications between fairs and carnivals. Additionally, the final toolkit would be something that a fair/carnival of any size could utilize better to understand the business model of each other’s operations and lead to meaningful discussions for the
betterment of all moving forward. This toolkit includes critical conversation concepts for working together to create mutually beneficial working relationships in the future.

Entertainment Programming Toolkit

The Entertainment Programming Toolkit outlines everything you need to do and consider when booking entertainment for your fair, including strategic planning, market research, budgets, ticketing, offers, contracts, riders, production, marketing campaigns, scheduling, permits, noise ordinances, waivers, music licensing, staff, volunteers, guest experience, entertainer venue experience, photography and video, signage, weather, cancellation, analytics, determining ROI, and wrap-up reports. Also included is an operational checklist, guides, templates, and a glossary of terms.

Succession Planning Toolkit

The Succession Planning Toolkit was developed by the Institute of Fair Management Leadership Grad Track enrollees. An extensive toolkit that outlines succession planning for ALL personnel: staff, board, volunteers, etc. This toolkit provides members with in-depth resources including the interview process, cross-training checklists, and a complete employee work cycle provided to the user—an excellent human resource reference.

Swine Flu Toolkit

The Swine Flu Toolkit assists in preparing for a swine flu outbreak. Refer to this toolkit for helpful documents to ensure you take the necessary steps to defend against the swine flu.
