Fulton County Fair (AR) Temporarily Bans Chickens at Yearly Animal Show

SALEM, Ark. (KAIT) – Visitors of this year’s Fulton County Fair may notice something missing, as chickens have been temporarily banned at its yearly animal show. The temporary ban comes as the threat of avian flu continues to sweep through Arkansas. The disease can be fatal to animals who catch it.

York State Fair (PA) Cancels Bird Shows for 2022

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — All poultry and bird shows are canceled at the upcoming 2022 York State Fair as a precaution against bird flu, according to a post on the fair’s Facebook page. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has banned poultry shows because of the avian flu, which has been impacting birds in the state.

South Dakota Ag Secretary Contemplates Lifting Poultry Exhibition Band

South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Hunter Roberts says he is still looking at whether to lift the band on poultry exhibitions following the outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza or referred to as the bird flu.  Roberts spoke with WNAX radio on Wednesday during the Governor’s Agriculture Summit.  He says earlier this spring South Dakota was hit hard by the bird flu, especially with the state’s turkey production.
