Zone 1 to Zone 1 Grant 2023

Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Pennsylvania, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Rhode Island, Vermont

These grants are designed to enable individuals that have never attended the IAFE Zone 1 conference held May 4-6, 2023 in Albany, NY. Four (4) grants, up to $500, will be awarded to assist the recipients with travel expenses including hotel and flights. Conference registration will be paid for by the zone. Recipients will be asked to give a brief report on their experience of the conference (up to that point) at the Zone 1 meeting. To be reimbursed, a copy of the receipts for said travel expenses, must be submitted to the IAFE office, following the Zone 1 conference. (Hotel manifest and other travel related receipts)

Four (4) Grants to be awarded in 2023

Guidelines and Eligibility

  1. Have not attended the Zone 1 conference in three years or more
  2. Must be from a fair that is located in Zone 1 (board member, staff member, or volunteer)
  3. Fair representing the nominee must be a current member of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions
  4. Grants are not transferable
  5. Funds are available for the 2023 Zone 1 conference. Any unused funds will be retained by the Zone for general use

Procedure

  1. Application deadline: March 1, 2023 (Applications submitted online)

Judging

  1. Applications will be “blind” when delivered to members of the grant selection committee and will be given “blind judging”
  2. Judging will be based on an individual score. Each judge will review each application, individually, and on its own merit, assigning a score to the individual application

Criteria

  1. Evidence of leadership & involvement – 2 points
  2. Service to community and fair – 2 points
  3. Outstanding character – 1 point
  4. Essay – 5 points
